recruits Introduction. When they were sixteen years old they would begin to collect money for their gang for the fiestas. They would stipulate a monthly sum and they would go from house to house asking for money and things. With that money they paid the musicians and the food. The gangs of today do not have the same spirit as in those days. They used to measure the height, the weight and the width of the chest and the one who had the lowest measurements was made to feel ashamed.
